THE MAN WHO WANTED TO DIVE ON MARS
“Tout grand rêve commence avec un rêveur. Rappelez-vous toujours, vous avez en vous la force, la patience et la passion d’atteindre les étoiles pour changer le monde”

Alban is a polar explorer with a dream. He dreams of going to Mars and diving into its waters.
In order to test the feasibility of this project, Alban is setting off on a scientific tour of Europe.
In COMEX’s laboratories, the German researcher Peter Weiss is heading up the design of a lightweight and submersible suit.
This incredible piece of equipment is called the GANDOLFI 2.0. The suit was initially designed in the ’80s but was not perfected or used because the project was dropped due to the Cold War and ensuing financial crises. The space race had lost steam by then.
By following along with Alban in pursuit of his dream, the viewer embarks on a scientific journey, from Brussels to Andalusia, from Cologne to Marseilles, where the GANDOLFI 2.0 is tested in deep water over several months.
The objective of Weiss and his teams is to obtain validation for and standardisation of the suit. At the same time, engineers based in Andalusia are developing a self-deploying space module.
This exceptional 4K documentary uncovers the new challenges encountered in the attempt to conquer space and those faced by the Mars mission.
